Orlando Health is continuing its expansion in Alabama with plans to acquire RMC Health System, a nonprofit system anchored by a 375-bed medical center and a broad network of outpatient and specialty services. The transaction, expected to close this fall, will further strengthen Orlando Health’s growing footprint in the state.
This move builds on Orlando Health’s earlier investment in Brookwood Baptist Health, where it acquired a majority stake from Tenet Healthcare in 2024. With RMC joining its Alabama Region, the system is positioning itself for continued regional growth and operational integration.
As part of the acquisition, Orlando Health plans significant investments over the next five years, including upgrades to facilities, expanded service lines, physician recruitment, and the implementation of a new electronic health record system. Leadership from both organizations emphasized alignment around growth, performance improvement, and enhancing access to high-quality care across Northeast Alabama.
The transaction reflects a broader trend of health system consolidation and regional scaling, with a focus on strengthening referral networks, improving infrastructure, and supporting long-term sustainability in competitive and evolving healthcare markets.
