The nation’s largest health insurers reported their second-quarter 2026 earnings between mid-July and early August, with five of the six major insurers reporting higher profits compared with the same period last year. Here’s how they ranked by Q2 profit:
- UnitedHealth Group: $5.484 billion profit, with a 4.9% margin
- CVS Health: $2.979 billion profit, with a 2.8% margin
- Cigna: $1.66 billion profit, with a 2.3% margin
- Elevance Health: $1.463 billion profit, with a 2.9% margin
- Centene: $1.091 billion profit, with a 2% margin
- Humana: $694 million profit, with a 1.7% margin
UnitedHealth Group ranked first by Q2 profit and also moved up to become the fourth-largest company globally on the Fortune Global 500 list. Elevance Health was the only insurer among the six to report a year-over-year decline in profit.
