Medical Billing Clerk – Gardendale Office

Job Title: General Clerical

Reports To: Billing Supervisor

Summary: Provides business office with clerical assistance by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties assigned as needed.

  1. Retrieves files from emails and saves electronically to corresponding practice on the EOB shared drive.

  2. Scans work and saves electronically to the corresponding practice on the EOB shared drive.

  3. Retrieves files from the FTP server and saves electronically on the EOB shared drive.

  4. Addresses envelopes or packages.

  5. Pulls and photocopies EOB’s and attach to secondary claims.

  6. Stuffs and addresses (by hand) envelopes/packages with HCFA forms etc

  7. Sorts, and distributes mail.

  8. Receives return mail and corrects bad addresses.

  9. Pulls and photocopies EOB’s and attach to secondary claims.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

  1. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

  2. Ability to write simple correspondence.

  3. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

  1. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with I O’s and 1OO’s.

  2. Ability to perform these operations using units of American

money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

    1. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

    2. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete

variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

1. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have some typing skills and basic knowledge of computers.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current driver’s license

Other Skills and Abilities

Must have excellent telephone skills and knowledge of standard office equipment, including but not limited to, calculator, printers, fax machine, copier and mail machine.

Other Qualifications

Must be able to travel short distances on a daily basis .
