CMS reviewed the 2026 MIPS quality measures for the annual ICD-10 code changes that took effect October 1. No MIPS quality measures were identified as significantly affected, meaning no measures will be suppressed or have their performance period shortened because of the 2026 ICD-10 updates.
CMS evaluates whether coding changes could affect a measure’s scope, intent, clinical applicability, or historical benchmarks. When significant changes are identified, CMS may either exclude the measure from scoring or limit the performance period to the first nine months of the year. Practices can review the full CMS methodology and measure specifications for additional details.
