Researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that an unvaccinated traveler who flew from Europe to the United States while infectious with Measles transmitted the virus to 17 additional people, including passengers exposed during flights, at the airport, and through subsequent community spread. The investigation traced 135 exposed travelers, with infections occurring on both international and domestic flights, and several cases requiring hospitalization. The findings highlight the importance of vaccination before international travel and delaying travel when experiencing symptoms of a contagious illness.
