CMS Medicare Telehealth Expansion

CMS Expansion of New Telehealth PHE Codes

CMS recently announced the expansion of telehealth services that Medicare Fee-For-Service will pay for during the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency. CMS has added 11 new services to the Medicare telehealth services list. Medicare will begin paying for these new telehealth services effective immediately, and for the duration of the PHE. These new telehealth services include certain neurostimulator analysis and programming services, and cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation services. The 11 new codes are:

  • 95970, 95971, 95972, 95983, 95984 – Electronic analysis of implanted neurostimulator pulse generator/transmitter
  • 93797, 93798, G0422, G0423 – Intensive cardiac rehabilitation
  • G0424 – Pulmonary rehabilitation with exercise
  • 93750 – Interrogation of ventricular assist device (VAD)
