The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released updates to key resources within the Quality Payment Program (QPP), while also inviting stakeholders to participate in upcoming discussions future cost measure development under MIPS.
CMS recently updated the 2026 Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR) and the 2025–2026 Qualified Registry postings, reflecting changes such as remedial actions and terminations affecting certain third-party intermediaries. Providers and organizations are encouraged to review the latest versions—along with the Version History sections—to stay informed on registry status and compliance considerations.
In addition, CMS, in partnership with Acumen LLC, is continuing development of episode-based cost measures for potential use in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). Current efforts include ongoing (Wave 6) measures for neurological conditions and non-pressure ulcers, as well as a new (Wave 7) measure focused on breast cancer screening.
As part of this process, CMS is hosting public, listen-only webinars featuring Clinician Expert Workgroups. These sessions provide insight into how cost measures are developed and offer transparency into the decision-making process.
Upcoming Webinar Dates:
- Breast Cancer Screening: March 24, 2026
- Parkinsonism Syndromes & Multiple Sclerosis (MS): March 31, 2026
- Non-Pressure Ulcers: April 1, 2026
Registration is required to attend. These sessions present a valuable opportunity for providers and stakeholders to better understand evolving MIPS cost measures and prepare for future program changes.
