U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and CDC plans booster shots for the COVID vaccine in the fall

On Wednesday, August 18, 2021, HHS and CDC announced that beginning in the fall (as early as September 2021) COVID-19 vaccine booster shots of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will become available for all adults.

Officials say that adults 18 years and older who received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines will be eligible for a booster dose eight months after their second dose.

For those adults that received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, it is likely would also need an additional booster shot, however, they are still conducting research and have not yet released any plans as of this date.
