Quality Measures: Tips ‘n’ Tricks
We created a list of a few tips on how to successfully attest for the Quality Measures performance category in the 2017.
Tips ‘n’ Tricks:
- Quality Measures are NOT restricted by specialty.
- Only 1 reporting mechanism can be used to report the Quality Measures performance category of MIPS.
- Attest to more than one Quality Measure or Improvement Activity to provide additional safety against a penalty and possibly earn an incentive.
- In order to score more than 3 points for reporting a Quality Measure, you must meet both the care minimum requirement and the data completeness criteria.
- The case minimum requirement: Submit data on at least 20 patients
- The data completeness criteria: varies depending on reporting mechanism
- Submit data on at least 50% of applicable patients who were seen during a performance period of at least 90 consecutive days
- For claims submission: Medicare patients for whom the measure applies
- For registry submission: Medicare AND non-Medicare patients for whom the measure applies
- Report at least 1 Medicare patient for at least 1 measure
- Submit data on at least 50% of applicable patients who were seen during a performance period of at least 90 consecutive days
- For 2017, if you fail to meet the data completeness criteria or the case minimum requirements, you will receive 3 points for that measure.
- Earn 1 bonus point for each measure that is submitted using Certified EHR Technology (CEHRT) using end-to-end electronic reporting. This includes reporting via a registry, of through your EHR vendor. ***MediSYS EHR qualifies for this BONUS!***
REMINDER: The quality Performance Category score will be published on the Physician Compare website.
