MIPS Performance Categories: Quality Measures
Quality Measures category replaces the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS). This category is 60% of your 2017 MIPS Performance score.
In 2017 for the Quality Measures performance category, to earn an incentive (up to 4%), Eligible Clinicians (ECs) are required to report:
- Up to 6 quality performance measures; including one outcome measure
- If no outcome measure is available for your specialty or practice, choose another high priority measure.
- For 50% of eligible patients for a period of 90-days for all payers
Although, providers can avoid the penalty by submitting only one measure, we encourage providers to submit a full year of data with at least 6 measures to increase your chances of receiving a higher incentive.
How are Quality Measures reported?
Several options are available to report Quality Measures including claims, uploading the data to a registry, or automating the process based on encounter documentation. Most EHR systems will provide the report data that can be used with one of these options. MediSYS offers options to automate the process, which means your selected Quality Measures are reported to CMS as a by-product of encounter documentation in our EHR.
