In 2004, the American Heart Association (AHA) launched the Go Red for Women® movement to increase awareness of Heart Health in women. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in women. This is why it is so important to know the warning signs and start early in taking preventative measures. In order to raise awareness for Go Red for Women® and heart disease in women, AHA has created Wear Red Day which is February 1st, 2019, where everyone is encouraged to wear red and raise awareness for Women’s Heart Health! The AHA has many recommendations to begin heart healthy habits, including promoting healthy eating habits to reducing stress and promoting mental and emotional well-being.
