Hurricane Ida Added to Automatic Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances Policy for MIPS

FEMA has designated Hurricane Ida as a major disaster. In response, CMS has determined that the automatic extreme and uncontrollable circumstances (EUC) policy will apply to Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) eligible clinicians in FEMA-designated disaster areas of Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, New Jersey, and Missouri. After detailed review of clinical trials, the FDA advises that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is safe and effective in preventing serious illness caused by COVID-19, and is fully approved for ages 16 and older. The FDA amended the emergency use authorizations (EUAs) for both the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine and the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to allow for an additional dose in certain immunocompromised people.
