New Medicaid ID cards, with a new Medicaid number that starts with 530, will be effective on August 1, 2021. According to Alabama Medicaid, patients should present both Medicaid cards to providers. COVID-19 Public Health Emergency extended through October 20, 2021

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) once again renewed the public health emergency (PHE) for COVID-19, effective July 20, 2021. The renewed PHE will end 90 days after its effective date on Monday, Oct. 18, 2021, unless it is extended further. Congress extends 2% Medicare sequester moratorium through the end of 2021

Repayment of Medicare Accelerated and Advance Payment Program loans could begin in April

In 2020, CMS expanded the Medicare Accelerated and Advance Payment Program (AAP) which made it available to most Medicare physicians. Due to COVID-19, the AAP Program provided loans to applicants facing financial hardships based on historic Medicare billing.
