Helping you put the MIPS pieces together each week!
Who is included in MIPS?
In 2017, participation is easier than it has EVER been!
You’re included in MIPS if you bill Medicare Part B more than $30,000 a year in allowable charges and provide care for more than 100 Medicare patients a year, and are a:
- Physician
- Physician assistant
- Nurse practitioner
- Clinical nurse specialist
- Certified registered nurse anesthetist
***First year Medicare Providers in 2017 are NOT eligible to participate in MIPS until 2018.***
Also note:
- You must meet BOTH the minimum allowable charges and the Medicare patient benchmark to be in the program.
- To avoid the 2018 payment adjustment, first time participants for Meaningful Use in 2017 MUST choose a reporting period before October 1, 2017!
- Medicaid Providers will still participate in the Medicaid Meaningful Use Program for 2017
Watch for an IMPORTANT letter from CMS: In late April through May, Medicare providers should get a letter from the Medicare Administrative Contractor that processes Medicare Part B claims. This letter will tell the participation status of each MIPS clinician associated with the Taxpayer Identification Number or TIN in a practice.
