CMS proposes 90-Day Meaningful Use reporting period in 2016
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has proposed having a shorter Meaningful Use reporting period for all eligible professionals for the 2016 reporting year. This shorter reporting period would be any continuous 90-day period between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2016. CMS included this provision in the Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) and Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) Payment System proposed rule. The OPPS final rule is expected later this year in the fall.
Currently, eligible providers must report Meaningful Use for a full calendar year for 2016 reporting period.
We will post an update once a final rule has been determined.
