Group vs. Individual Reporting for 2017 MIPS
How you choose to report (group vs. individual) will be based on many factors that will impact your overall MIPS performance score! Make sure you are choosing the BEST solution for YOUR practice!
Reporting as a GROUP (GPRO):
- Groups are defined as a single Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) with 2 or more clinicians (including at least 1 MIPS Eligible Clinician (EC))
- Assessed at the group-level across all MIPS categories
- Report on the SAME quality measures for the entire group.
- Groups are not required to register early to attest – the same submission mechanisms are available for group reporting and individual reporting.
- Groups cannot report quality data for MIPS via claims. (see chart below for all submission methods)
- Groups will receive ONE payment adjustment based on the group’s performance.
- All ECs within the group will receive the same MIPS score.
-
- If a clinical within the group meets the low-volume threshold exemption under MIPS (bills less than $30,000 and/or sees fewer than 100 Medicare patients in a year) he/she WILL still be included in the group and will therefore still need to participate in MIPS.
Reporting as an Individual (EC):
- An individual is defined as a single clinician tied to a single Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)
- Report for each of the MIPS categories as an individual.
- Choose your quality measures based on your specialty.
- Your payment adjustment will be based on your performance in MIPS.
